OSWEGO, NY – The eighth annual Joseph “Pete” Griffin Memorial Golf Tournament raised nearly $8,500 for the American Red Cross.

Held on June 7, the Entergy sponsored tournament had perfect weather and nearly 100 participants and volunteers were on hand for the event.

The day’s activities included a putting contest, a 50/50 raffle, a hole in one contest and other raffles which Red Cross volunteers sold throughout the day.

The event ended with dinner at G.S. Steamers on The Deck and many prizes awarded.

For several years Entergy has been the major sponsor for this event and this year the Sheriff’s Silver Star Association, JCM Architectural, and Evian Water were added as tee gift, hole in one and cart sponsors, respectively.

The tournament also has many tee and green sponsors mostly from local businesses and organizations who generously support the event.

The event looks to grow each year and plans for next year are already in place with a date of Saturday, June 6, 2009, already booked.
