Grace Parker Coco, 96, died peacefully on Dec. 20, 2011 at Oswego (NY) Hospital.
Grace was born and grew up in Elba, NY. She graduated from the NYS College of Teachers at Albany. Her career in education spanned over 35 years, influencing countless lives. She began teaching in a high school business curriculum. Later she taught elementary children. After retirement, she continued teaching adults for ten years as a charter member of Literacy Volunteers of Wayne Co., NY.
She lived in Marion, NY for 43 years with her husband before moving to Binghamton in 1991. There they became active in St. Patrick’s Church and their St. John Vianney group. In 2009 she moved to Springside at Seneca Hill retirement community in Oswego, NY. She enjoyed playing (and excelled at) bridge and socializing with her friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph in 2001. She is survived by three sons, Dick of Binghamton, Kenneth (Nancy) of Ohio and Robert (Carolyn) of Oswego; three grandchildren: Geoffrey (Susanna) Coco, Jamie Cianfarano and Sasha Joseph, and one great-granddaughter, Julia Coco.
There will be no services or calling hours. A private service, arranged by Foster Funeral Home, was held for the family. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Binghamton, NY.
