Pictured are Erin Waloven, left, Mona Otvos and members of the fifth grade orchestra performing Hot Cross Buns pizzicato-style. Young string musicians at the school learn to play their instruments using this plucking method and without a bow so that they can concentrate on practicing their technique.

The recent Granby Elementary School holiday concert showcased student performers and gave members of the community an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful sounds of the season.

Fifth and sixth grade orchestra students, chorus students and band students, under the direction of orchestra conductor Kelly Evans, chorus director Stephany Collins and guest band conductor Ashley Trudell, a practicum student from the SUNY Potsdam Crane School of Music, performed several seasonal favorites including Jolly Old Saint Nicholas, Jingle Bells, and Celebrate with Joy.
