FULTON, NY – Gregory P. “Goober” Young, 46, of Fulton, passed away on Friday February 24, 2017, after a sudden illness.

He was born in Hornell, NY, on October 13, 1970, to Helen J. Standbrook and the late Leroy E. Young Sr.

Greg proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1993 to 1996.

In his free time he enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing, softball and was a Yankees fan.

Goober was a likeable person who liked telling jokes and making people laugh.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his brother, Floyd Sabins Jr.

Greg will be greatly missed by his fiancée, Stephanie Baker, of Fulton; children, Eric, Kirsten and Kaitlyn Young, of Oswego; step-children, John and Destiny Brummett and Kyra and Troy Baker, all of Fulton; step-grandson, Landen; his mother and step-father, Helen J. and Harold F. Standbrook, of Red Creek; brothers, David (Julie) Sabins of Campbell, NY, Bobby (Donna) Sabins of Kent Store, Va., Douglas (Kim) Sabins of Montgomery, Pa., Jeffery (Lacey) Sabins of Wayland, NY, Leroy (Liz) Young of Oswego, NY, Donald (Erin) Young of Deltona, Fla., and Douglas (Shari) Young of Livonia, NY; sisters, Dawn (John) Young of Oswego, NY, Sandra (Joe) Sabins of Weedsport, NY, Debbie (Kevin) Saxton of Wayland, NY, Donna McElroy of Wallace, NY, and Diane McCaslin of Cohocton, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 2, from noon to 2 p.m. with a service to immediately follow at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.

Spring burial will be in Mount Adnah Cemetery, East Broadway, Fulton.
