Half-Shire Historical Society News – June 18, 2012

On Saturday June 16 we held our monthly luncheon at Richland.  About 25 people attended and helped fete Victor Yerdon of Phoenix on the occasion of his 83rd birthday.

Also present was Doris Brown Allen of Oswego, who told the assembled about her efforts to complete her second book.

A picnic lunch was served by Erma Schroeder and many stayed until past four doing research.

On Sunday June 24 the society will hold a breakfast fundraiser at Richland.

Waffles, fruit, eggs, toast, muffins, bagels, bacon and sausage will be available.

Please stop by if you are in the area, serving will be from 9 a.m. to noon.

Our victory lift should be installed by this day, the work is scheduled to be done June 21 and 22.

This installation will complete the accessibility project that began in December.

Efforts to set up the Heritage building at the Oswego County Fairgrounds began in earnest this week.

The five-day event will begin on June 30 and run through July 4 in Sandy Creek.

Half-Shire assisted in preparing a newsletter for the group which went out in the mail June 16.

The Half-Shire newsletter went out on June 14 and has reached many homes in the 13—zip codes.

Nancy Smith will be opening the facility up on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This added day will now have our facility open to the public Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

We are looking to add Wednesday soon, pending a volunteer. We are always available to open by appointment, get in touch with us by phone or email to make an appointment.
