OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego Middle School Hands on History Club recently traveled to Washington, DC to learn about the nation’s history and to tour the capital.
During its two days in Washington, the group experienced many of the great attractions that Washington has to offer.
Some of the places the students visited included the United States Holocaust Museum, the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, Ford’s Theater, the National Archives, the Air and Space Museum and Arlington National Cemetery.
Students visited and learned about the Vietnam Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial and the World War II Memorial on a guided night time tour.
While at Arlington National Cemetery students witnessed the changing of the guards and visited the JFK memorial and eternal flame.
Throughout the trip students learned about the founding of America, the Civil War, World War II, and many other important events in our nation’s history.
