A Sandy Creek High School student has been selected for one of the highest honors a band student can hope to achieve; to be named to the All State Symphonic Band.
Hannah Walker, a junior at Sandy Creek High School, was selected through audition to the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) All State Conference Symphonic Band.
The All State Symphonic Band is comprised of the highest-achieving students from across New York State and will culminate with a performance in Rochester, NY on December 2.
Hannah was also selected principal French Horn at the NYSSMA Zone 5 Area All State Festival at the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY in mid-November.
She also received a nearly perfect score of 99 for her solo audition during the NYSSMA Solo Festival held earlier this year. According to music teacher Tom Artini, Hannah’s selection for All State Symphonic Band marks the first student from Sandy Creek High School to achieve this honor in more than 16 years.
