The Hannibal Central School District Music Department is presenting a concert featuring the major performing ensembles from the Middle and High School. The concert is designed to showcase the progression of skills students attain in the music program from beginning band through High School Concert Band and from fifth grade chorus to the Senior High Chorus. Music faculty will demonstrate for the community and the students the enthusiasm that the music program generates and that it will expose the younger students to the rewards of continuing their study of music at the upper grade levels.
Selections will include a great deal of music that will be familiar to audiences of all ages. The sixth grade band will play music from The Chronicles of Narnia and Spongebob Squarepants. The 7th and 8th grade band will be performing selections from Indiana Jones, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The 5th and 6th grade chorus will sing In Africa, and the 7th and 8th grade chorus will perform the ballad My Heart Will Go On.
The Senior High Band will be performing the Earth Wind and Fire hit, September, as well as Gaelic Fantasy an arrangement of the familiar Celtic hymn tune Morning Has Broken. The High School Chorus will be performing Turtle Dove, an English folk song about love and loss. Then the choir will pick up the tempo for a medley from the hit TV series Glee and will feature many of the chorus members in solos and duets.
The concert will be held in the gymnasium at the Dennis M. Kenney Middle School at 7pm on Tuesday, March 15th. Admission is free. Please come and support local school music programs and the children in the Hannibal community.
