HANNIBAL – Upcoming meetings and events of the Hannibal Historical Society include a business meeting on September 28, at 7 p.m. at the Community Center on Oswego Street.
President Susan Pope will present her annual report, officers will be introduced and committee chairs will be appointed.
On October 3, members and friends of the Society are invited to meet at the Community Center for an 8:45 a.m. departure to the Harriet Tubman Home in Auburn.
Those who wish to tour the home need to make a reservation and pay their admission fee of $5/adult (18 and up), $3/senior (60 and up) or $2/student-child (6 to 17) to Lowell Newvine, PO Box 325, Hannibal, NY 13074 on or before September 25.
Admission fee checks should be made out to Lowell; he will make a lump sum cash payment at the door, as required by The Tubman Home.
The tour of the Harriet Tubman Home will start at 10 a.m., leaving from the visitors’ center, and conclude shortly before 11 a.m.
The center contains rest rooms, a museum and gift shop.
It is handicapped accessible, but The Harriet Tubman Home is not.
On Saturday October 24, Hannibal History Day will be held at the Community Center from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
A collection of items from the Civil War and World War II will be on display.
Lowell and Carol Newvine will be on hand to accept donations to the Hannibal Historical Society.
Those who are willing to loan Civil War or World War II items for History Day are invited to call 564-5650.
Ann Mahaney will be selling Christmas Tree Ornaments.
