In a program presented by the Hannibal Sports Boosters, student-athletes from throughout the past year were called to the stage at the high school’s auditorium to receive applause for their efforts.

The program was kicked off by guest speaker Will DuMont, a Hannibal graduate who participated in football, basketball and track during his high school days.

During his speech, DuMont continually acknowledged the pride he took in being a Warrior.

“The atmosphere is different at Hannibal,” he said. “Once you become a member of the community, you’re part of a family.”

DuPont also praised the student-athletes and attendance and encouraged them to never give up on their dreams.

“It’s OK to fail, but it’s not OK to give up,” DuMont said. “Former (Dallas) Cowboy’s wide receiver Michael Irvin said at his hall of fame speech, ‘Look up, get up, but never give up.’”

Following DuMont’s speech, each varsity sports program was called to the stage to receive recognition for their efforts. Several programs were also recognized as being New York State Scholar-Athlete Teams.

Senior student-athletes from Hannibal High School were called to the stage during a recent ceremony and applauded for their athletic accomplishments.
