A Hannibal senior citizen was charged Friday with having sex with a child younger than 13.

Gerald D. Wells, Sr., 69, of 305 Peat Bed Road, Hannibal, was charged with sexual conduct against a child and course of criminal sex act, both felonies, and a misdemeanor count of sexual abuse.

The Sheriff’s Department alleges Wells had oral sexual contact with a child younger than 13, then had similar contact with a child younger than 14 sometime between 2001 and 2010.

The two charges involve the same victim, the department says.

Wells was arraigned in Hannibal town court and was released without bail.  He returns to court on October 26 unless his case is moved to County Court before then.
