Hannibal Students Celebrate Music in Our Schools Month

HANNIBAL – The Hannibal Central School District’s Lockwood Auditorium was buzzing with excitement, talent and entertaining music during the recent All-County Band Festival.

More than 150 elite junior and senior high school musicians representing all nine school districts in Oswego County combined for separate performances in front of an audience of friends, family and peers.

Song selections included “Encanto,” “Air for Winds,” “Rise of the Firebird,” and “Pursuit,” to name a few.

Four students from the HCSD music program participated in the festival.

Senior Sam Eddy and foreign exchange student Ane Otaegui performed with the high school band, while middle school students Mason Garbus and Marc Barnhart represented Dennis M. Kenney Middle School during the junior high concert.

The district will continue its celebration of music and the performing arts during March, which is Music in Our Schools Month.

The month-long celebration will be highlighted by a variety of vocal and band concerts, as well as the Purple Gallery Play.
