Lowell Newvine, Hannibal Town and Village Historian has announced an agreement between the Hannibal Historical Society and Arcadia Publishing to publish a book on the Town and Village of Hannibal. Plans are underway for the book to be released in early 2010 in conjunction with the Village of Hannibal’s Sesquicentennial.

In order to meet the publication deadline, Newvine is asking for those with pictures of farm life, rural school buildings, social & cultural activities, or places of business to loan the photos to him for a short period of time so that he may scan them for possible inclusion in the book. Any pictures to be published in the book must also include all pertinent information associated with the photo such as subject, location and identification of individuals involved. All original photos will be returned to their owners. The photos must represent life in Hannibal prior to 1955 and be of good quality.

Copies of similar books published by Arcadia Publishing will be available for viewing at the next meeting of the Hannibal Historical Society. It will take place on Monday, August 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hannibal Community Center on Oswego Street. Newvine may be reached by calling 564-5650.
