The S.O.S. (Save Our School) organization is made up of students from the Hannibal High School. Their purpose is to make the public aware of their plight in the School’s ongoing budget problems, and, in a positive way make themselves known.
On Good Friday, The village of Hannibal was the benefactor as 42 S.O.S. members, along with 4 parents for support, proceeded to clean the village sidewalks. Highway Supervisor Dan Mahaney provided safety and guidance for the hardworking students. The work was completed in 4 hours and the S.O.S. team was treated to lunch at the Village Pizza Parlor.
This was a very positive experience for the hardworking group, and was very well received by the residents.
A grateful mayor sent the attached letter to the group.
To the S.O.S. members at the Hannibal High School:
I am writing to tell you how pleased and proud I am for the wonderful job your members did, cleaning the Village streets and sidewalks.
Singing Happy Birthday to our beloved senior, Dorothy Fresch made her cry. You need to know what a positive influence you have brought, to yourselves, your community, and your High School. Many Village residents have remarked about how hard you all worked, and what a beautiful job you did.
I am all for you. You have my support, now, and, in the future.
Keep up the good work. Many, many, thanks to all of you.
Your Mayor and friend,
