Harborfest Featured On National TV

OSWEGO, NY – Oswego Harborfest was recently featured on the Angling The Great Lakes television series broadcast on the Sportsman Channel produced by Adventure Media Productions in cooperation with Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning.

“Harborfest was featured within the first three minutes of the broadcast,” said Tom Van Schaack, executive director of Harborfest. “Dave Turner and the staff at the Oswego County Department of Tourism not only did a tremendous job at exposing what Oswego County has to offer for sport fishing, but also in helping show how Harborfest impacts the community during the final full week of July every year.”

Angling The Great Lakes is a television series dedicated to Sport Fishing the Great Lakes.

The seventh show of the 2009 season featured Oswego County and fishing on Lake Ontario.

During preliminary production discussions, it was discovered that filming would happen during Harborfest (July 23-26, 2009).

The Adventure Media Production crew spent a couple days filming activities of Harborfest, including the crew’s tour of the Tall Ship US Brig Niagara.

“Oswego County is home to some of the best sport fishing opportunities in the world,” said Turner, director of Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning.

“Partnering with the folks at Angling The Great Lakes was an easy decision. However, we wanted to also highlight all of the other great assets we enjoy, including Harborfest, and create a show that was about Oswego County as a family destination in addition to being an  angler’s paradise. Brian Smith and his team did a great job and we look forward to working with them on future projects,” he continued.
