Oswego Harbor Festivals, Incorporated has announced plans to host it’s first ever Harborfest Dodgeball Event to benefit Oswego Harborfest. The event will be held October 16 at the Oswego High School and Leighton School Gymnasiums beginning at 10 AM.
“We racked our brains to come up with a unique event that participants would enjoy,†said Executive Director Tom Van Schaack. “We didn’t want to be just another event. We appreciate the help of the Oswego City School District and Athletic Director Scott Sugar for their assistance in putting this event on.â€
The Harborfest Dodgeball Event will feature four divisions of eight teams competing for championships. Three of the four divisions will be open to any age (men, women and coed), while the fourth division will be for high school aged students and younger. Each division will be split into two 4-team sub-divisions with each sub-division playing a round-robin schedule. The top two teams from each sub-division will play a best 2 of 3 series to earn a spot in the Division Championship. A championship best 2 of 3 series will then be played to determine the overall Division Champion.
The Harborfest Dodgeball Event is just $250 per team for the open divisions, and $150 for the “junior†division. Teams must have at least six players on their roster but are allowed to carry as many as twelve people their team. The Open Coed Division teams must have at least three males and females to start each game. Games will be up to ten minutes in length and will be played according to standard Dodgeball rules – the first team to eliminate the other team will be the winner. If after ten minutes, no team has been eliminated, the team with the most players left on the court will be declared the winner.
Each participant will receive a Harborfest Dodgeball T-shirt and the winners and runners-up in each division will win a trophy.
Contact the Harborfest Office for more information on the Harborfest Dodgeball Event. Entry forms are available online at www.oswegoharborfest.com. Each division is limited to the first eight teams to register. Teams are encouraged to create and wear their own unique team “uniformâ€. All proceeds will go directly to benefit Oswego Harborfest.
