OSWEGO, NY – Volunteers are a vital part of a successful Harborfest. Each year, dozens of dedicated volunteers come together in various positions to ensure that the festival runs smoothly.

To show its gratitude for these incredible people, Harborfest is announcing a bike giveaway shortly preceding this upcoming festival.

For every hour worked, a volunteer will receive one chance to win the bike.

The more hours worked, the more times they will be entered.

The bike has been generously provided for Harborfest by Murdock’s Bicycles and Sports.

AmeriCorps member and volunteer coordinator Garrett Skinner said, “Harborfest really relies on the enormous support shown by our volunteers throughout the community. We look forward to welcoming returning and new volunteers to our festival, and showing people the product of such a large scale collaborative effort.”

Prospective volunteers can apply for a varied selection of positions including set up and take down, selling raffle tickets, artist help, office help, information aides, park management, park crew, parking attendant and more.

There is even a floater position for those who prefer to do a little bit of everything.

Volunteer applications are still being accepted on an ongoing basis and can be found on the Harborfest website.

Volunteer training dates have been set for July 20 at 6 p.m. and July 21 also at 6 p.m., in the McCrobie Building at 41 Lake St.

Harborfest is one of the few admission-free music festivals in the country.

It was founded with the mission of creating nationally recognized festivals and events that attract and engage a broad and diverse audience, celebrate and build community, and advance economic development in Oswego.

It would not be possible to continue the event without the massive continued support received from the city of Oswego, businesses, organizations, government entities and individuals and family members.
