Harold L. Sawyer, 81, of Volney, died Friday at St. Luke Health Services in Oswego.
A native of Scriba, Harold was a life resident of the Volney-Scriba area. He retired in 1990 from Nestle Company in Fulton after 46 years. Harold was a member of the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Volney. He was a member of VFW Post 569 in Fulton, American Legion Post 486 in Minetto and Moose Lodge 1280 in Fulton. Harold was an Army veteran serving from 1946 to 1947.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Hazel Sawyer, brothers, Ralph and Edwin Sawyer and sisters, Madaline McCracken and Elizabeth Taylor.
Surviving are: his wife of 56 years, Beverly J. Sawyer of Volney; two sons, Brian L. (Ann Marie Grela) Sawyer and Robert M. Sawyer both of Oswego; two brothers, Ronald and Robert Sawyer both of Scriba; two sisters, Edith Bushart of Williamson and Beatrice Parkhurst of Lycoming; two granddaughters, Cali and Paige Sawyer; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to ARC of Oswego County, 7 Morrill Place, Fulton, 13069 or a charity of choice. Arrangements are in the care of Foster Funeral Home, Fulton.
