Harvey R. Lawton, 79, a former resident of County Route 7 in the Town of Oswego, passed away Saturday, at the Oswego Hospital.
Mr. Lawton was born in Oswego, the son of the late Harvey I. and Mary (Ellis) Lawton.
He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving from 1951 to 1954.
He was the husband of the late Evelyn (Johnson) Lawton, who died in October of 2010.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed, for 19 years, with the Alcan Corp. in Oswego. He had previously worked, for 15 years, at the Sealright Corp. in Fulton.
Mr. Lawton was a graduate of St. Mary’s School in Oswego.
He was a charter member of the VFW Post #5885 in Oswego.
He is survived by a son, Michael Harvey Lawton of Clinton, North Carolina; a step-sister, Carolyn Barker of Oswego; 8 grandchildren; and 4 step-children.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Commerton; and a brother, William Lawton.
Graveside services will be held in the spring, in Rural Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00pm Tuesday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego.
