OSWEGO – For the 28th consecutive year, Oswego Harborfest will bring thousands of festival-goers to town from July 23 through July 26.
However, as always the festival success depends not only on the talent, entertainment and food, but also the contributions of volunteer individuals who are an integral part of the annual event.
Once again, volunteers are needed to provide a variety of important responsibilities.
Oswego Harborfest happens with the help of more than 500 volunteers who want to celebrate the Oswego community, want to be a part of something big and exciting or simply want to meet new people to share information.
Rick Rodgers is the new Oswego Harborfest volunteer coordinator and he has been working diligently to invite volunteers to participate in this year’s event.
There are a variety of opportunities as volunteers can help with the set up and take down operations, be involved as a raffle ticket seller, artist help, memorabilia assistant, information provider, office helper, park crew, shuttle host, shuttle aide, park management, parking attendant and for those who like to do a little of everything a “floater” position.
Applications are on line at www.oswegoharborfest.com or can be picked up at the McCrobie Building, 41 Lake St., first floor west wing in the Oswego Harborfest Volunteer Office.
Volunteers must complete the registration form and training programs are scheduled for 6 p.m. on July 15 and 16 at the McCrobie Building.
Rodgers is in the office Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or can be reached at 343-6858.
