Head Start Pre-K continues to accept applications for enrollment. Head Start is a quality pre-k program that enrolls 3- and 4-year-old children at no cost to families. The program’s primary goal is promoting school readiness through the development of social and cognitive skills.

Head Start Pre-K recognizes that children learn best through hands-on experiences. Classrooms are equipped with a variety of materials and resources that encourage students to explore, create, play, and learn. In addition, the program includes nutritious meals and snacks, encourages family involvement, offers support services, and screenings for vision and hearing. Each classroom is staffed with a teacher, teaching assistant, and classroom aide. Additional center staff includes a family advocate, nurse, cook, and bus aide.

Head Start Pre-K has locations across Oswego County and can enroll children living in all of the county’s school districts. Applications for enrollment are still being accepted and waiting lists will be maintained for all centers throughout the year.

Head Start Pre-K is available to families with incomes at or below federally set guidelines. Head Start is the longest running national school-readiness program in the United States. Since 1999, more than 4,400 children have been students of Head Start Pre-K in Oswego County. For more information, or to complete a registration application, please call 598-4711 or 800-359-1171.
