Helen Caster of Fulton Honored as 2012 SUNY Emerging Leader

DELHI, NY – Helen Caster of Fulton has been named a 2012 SUNY Emerging Leader by the SUNY Student Leadership Institute.

She is among an elite group of student leaders to be honored by the SUNY Student Leadership Institute at the SUNY Student Assembly Fall Conference November 2-4 in East Syracuse.

Caster is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in architectural design and building at Delhi.

“SUNY Delhi is great at providing leadership opportunities,” she said. “If people see me as a leader, it’s probably because I like to see everyone fulfilling their potential. I always try to encourage friends to do their best academically.”

The SUNY Emerging Leaders Award acknowledges students who have demonstrated significant leadership within their campus and/or community.

This new award recognizes current emerging leaders and provides an incentive for them to continue to develop their leadership skills throughout their college career and beyond.

Students selected for this award have demonstrated their leadership based on one or more of SUNY’s six big ideas: entrepreneurial century, seamless education pipeline, healthier New York, energy smart New York, vibrant community and the world.
