Helen M. Oswald, 89, passed away Friday at home in Norfolk, VA.
A native of Oswego, Mrs. Oswald retired from the U.S. Navy after 27 years of service as Chief Petty Officer and as one of the original WAVES, USN. She served during World War II and the Viet Nam War. She had also been employed with General Electric Co., before returning to the U.S. Navy.
Surviving: her daughter, Elizabeth A. Hendricks and husband, Gary of Norfolk, VA; two grandchildren, Jennifer L. Benjamin and husband, David N. Benjamin, Jr. and Richard E. Hendricks and wife, Crystal; three great-grandchildren, Rachel M. Hendricks, Brandon S. Benjamin and Matthew R. Benjamin.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday at Hannibal Village Cemetery, West St., Hannibal. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation, CNY Affiliate, 5008 Brittonfield Pkwy. Suite 300, E. Syracuse, 13057.
