Helen O. Kessler, 81, a resident of 118 West Eighth Street, Oswego, passed away, Thursday, August 12th, 2010 in St. Louis, Missouri.
Born in Batavia, NY, she was the daughter of the late Milford and Holdiena Olmsted.
Mrs. Kessler was a physical education teacher at the Oswego High School for 20 years, retiring in 1990.
She was a volunteer and member of the Oswego YMCA, a member of the Red Hat Society.
Helen loved traveling, horseback riding, skiing, knitting and baking chocolate chip cookies.
In 2009 she was inducted into the Oswego High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Surviving is her husband James H. Kessler III; three daughters, Deana (Jim) Masuicca of Oswego, Rene Butler of Auburn and Michele (Eric) Steinhouse of St. Louis, Missouri; two sons, James H. (Pam) Kessler IV of Amarillo, Texas and Charles (Joanne) Kessler of Albany; one brother, Charles (Phyllis) Olmsted of Lafayette; one sister, Josephine Feeney of Amherst, NY; fourteen grandchildren, Stefan Kessler, Joshua Kessler, Eric Kessler, Brandon Gilmore, Ryan Gilmore, Justin Gilmore, Shannon Steinhouse, Kimberly Steinhouse, Scott Steinhouse, Kevin Steinhouse, Cody Kessler, Tyler Kessler, Alex Kessler and Andrew Kessler; one great-grandchild, Addison Kessler; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Marie Ralston.
A memorial service will be held at 11a.m. Saturday, September 4th at the Faith United Church, 12 Fitzgibbons Dr. Oswego.
Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m., Friday, September 3rd at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
