Heritage Foundation Antique Show, Sale To Offer Appraisals

OSWEGO, NY – Ever wonder what that prized family heirloom might be worth?  You’ll have the opportunity to find out at the Heritage Foundation of Oswego’s 19th annual Antique Show and Sale.

Sponsored by Entergy Nuclear, the event will be held during Harborfest, July 25 – 26 at the Oswego Armory, West First Street.

Barry Haynes of Haynes Restorations examines a Civil War era Drakes Plantation Bitters Bottle for Laree Pease, committee chair for the Heritage Foundation Antique Show and Sale.Attendees will have the opportunity to bring in their treasured antiques and have them professionally appraised.

“We are happy to be able to provide this valuable resource,” said committee chair, Laree Pease.  “Mr. Barry Haynes of Haynes Restorations, in Mexico will be available on Friday from 1 to 3 p.m.  He is a well-respected antique dealer and appraiser whose expertise includes: bottles, furniture, U.S. coins and paper money, stoneware, decanters and more.  On Saturday, Mr. Ron Kaplewicz, a special guest appraiser with more than 40 years of collecting and appraising experience, will be available for appraisals from 1 to 3 p.m.  Kaplewicz specializes in antique clocks, watches, coins and money. Our guests will appreciate the wealth of knowledge and the unique insight on the world of antiques that that these skilled appraisers will offer our attendees.”

Those in attendance will be allowed one free appraisal with paid admission.

Additional appraisals will be available at a $3 per item charge.

The show and sale will also feature a special Heritage Foundation booth offering consigned or donated antiques and collectibles.

Area residents are encouraged to consider this event as a venue to sell some of their antiques and collectibles.

“The antique show and sale is a great opportunity to market these items,” added Pease. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for individuals who might not otherwise participate in antique shows.”

The antique show and sale will be open Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The show is near Harborfest activities and free parking is available for visitors.

Admission to the show is only $4.
