The Town of Volney History Center is displaying the history of the grocery stores in North Volney.
Jack Stevens called his store “the Hub of the World” and had cards made stating such.
The display board and artifacts will be on show Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from January to April at the town hall on County Route 6, Volney Center.
I grew up in the “Hub of the World.”
I know this to be true as my father had cards made up stating, “Jack’s Place, Hub of the World, R D 2, Fulton, NY, phone 593-1177.
On June 14, 1999, the Fulton Patriot published this story.
Join us at the Volney town hall to see more history of the stores.
We have postcards of North Volney for sale, the cheese factory, cider mill, sawmill, Methodist Church, grocery store and gas station.
