Housing Conference Delves Into Oswego County History

OSWEGO – An evening of history will be presented in downtown Oswego Sept. 14, with a presentation on the historic architecture of Oswego County as part of the county’s bicentennial celebration.

Beginning at 5 p.m., Oswego County Historian Justin White and Austin Wheelock of Heritage Foundation of Oswego County will present a photo history of Oswego County’s significant architectural heritage.

The evening’s discussion will cover financial resources available to historic property owners to help preserve the rich architectural heritage of cities, villages and towns within Oswego County.

The presentation is free and open to the public.

A reception with cash bar will follow to allow further discussion with the presenters.

“This presentation will launch the 2016 Affordable Housing and Community Development Conference, sponsored by the New York State Rural Housing Coalition,” said Colin McKnight, Deputy Director. “This will be the third year that the Rural Housing Coalition has hosted the conference in Oswego.  The conference brings community revitalization and housing professionals from all over rural New York for training opportunities in Oswego.”

The conference will run from Sept. 14 to 16 at the Lake Ontario Conference Center overlooking Oswego’s harbor.
