Oswego – Howard L. Tracy, 81, a resident of West Utica Street in Oswego, died Monday, at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Syracuse.
Mr. Tracy was born in Oswego, and was the son of the late James and Anna (McNearney) Tracey.
He was a veteran of the US Army.
Mr. Tracy was a graduate of Coe College in Cedar Rapids Iowa.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Great Lakes Maritime Seaman with several shipping companies.
At one time, he had worked as a bank comptroller in Iowa. He had also lived in Florida for several years, before returning to Oswego in 2008.
Mr. Tracy enjoyed playing golf. His greatest passions were reading, singing, and long poems, which he would recite at will or whim.
He is survived by several family members in Oswego and Florida, including a sister, Eleanor Bullard of Oswego; John Wilson of Oswego, and John and Wayne Tracey of Florida.
He was predeceased by his twin brother, Harold, who died in February of this year.
Services will be private.
Burial will be in the Florida National Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
