Hundreds Of Food Items Collected At New Haven Elementary

NEW HAVEN – New Haven Elementary School students and staff members have gone above and beyond to help people and pets in need.

As a holiday surprise to the Mexico Food Pantry and local animal shelters, the New Haven Elementary community joined together to collect non-perishable food items and pet food, supplies and toys for people in need.

Food donations were aplenty during a recent New Haven Elementary School food drive.

Teacher Ashley Cobb suggested the school host a Holiday Spirit Week in an effort to collect additional items for students to drop off in donation boxes outside of select classrooms.

A canned or non-perishable food item was the suggested donation for participating in each themed day: favorite sport team, holiday hat, wacky Wednesday, holiday attire and pajama.

Several hundred items were collected and ensured local families had a joyous holiday season.
