OSWEGO, NY – Oswego Speedway’s weekly highlight show, ‘Inside Oswego Speedway,’ will move from the internet to Oswego County television sets beginning this May.
The Speedway’s in-house production, which features weekly race highlights, driver interviews, and inside stories on the ‘Steel Palace’ debuted as an internet only program in 2012.
While the show will remain available online, it will also join public access channel 96 programming, available through Time Warner Cable, for the upcoming 2013 race season.
Specific air dates and times are still to be determined, but the show is expected to air at least twice a week in between Oswego Speedway events.
“We are excited to be able to bring Oswego Speedway programming to local television sets this season,” said Oswego Speedway PR specialist and ‘Inside Oswego Speedway’ producer, Dan Kapuscinski. “The Speedway is at the very top of Oswego County tourism listings throughout the summer months and its weekly events are a big part of the local community. We’re pleased to be able to work with SUNY Oswego, in particular Mr. William Schleinitz, who has agreed to allow us to provide our programming on a weekly basis.”
Since its debut in the spring of 2012, ‘Inside Oswego Speedway’ programming has garnered more than 30,000 views as a part of the OswegoSpeedwayOnline YouTube channel.
Race fans from the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands have tuned into the weekly program highlighting Oswego Speedway. While the popular online show will remain available on YouTube, its initial weekly airing will first be made available to the Oswego County community on local television channel 96.
“Oswego Speedway is known widely on a national level for its unique form of Supermodified racing and entertainment, but there remains a portion of the local community that is unaware of what happens every Saturday night right in their own backyard,” said Kapuscinski. “We believe that ‘Inside Oswego Speedway’ will serve as a tremendous tool to help educate the community about the historical significance of the Speedway as well as its place in the Oswego County community as a prime venue for family gathering and entertainment.”
Oswego Speedway’s first on track activity for the 2013 season will be an open practice session scheduled for April 27. ‘Inside Oswego Speedway’ is scheduled to debut later that week on channel 96 with a complete recap of the day’s activities and a look inside the new faces and driver/team combinations for the upcoming season.
