James U. Bickford, 91 of Fulton, died Wednesday after a brief illness.
He retired from Armstrong World Industries in Fulton and had previously worked at Hunter Arms in Fulton. Jim enjoyed working on vehicles and tractors, hunting, fishing and gardening in his spare time. He had served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1935 to 1936 developing Selkirk State Park in Pulaski and in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Jim was predeceased by his wife, Vina Bickford; children, Thelma Davis, George and Robert Strough and by two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are his children, Alberta (Harvey) Webster of Mexico, Verne (Cindy) Bickford of Fulton, Charles (Peggy) Bickford of Palermo, Marjorie (Jim Lindsley) McEwen of Fulton, Harry (Betty) Bickford of Hannibal, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Beatrice Smith and June Rose of Oswego and Ellen Bickford and Kay Coe of Fulton; several nieces and nephews.
Services are 7 p.m. Friday with calling hours from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton. Burial will be at North Volney Cemetery in Volney. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Oswego County Hospice, P.O. Box 102, 34 East Bridge Street, Oswego, NY 13126.
