Jennifer Woods for Town Council

Elect Jennifer Woods
Scriba Town Council

Dear Scriba Resident,

I am writing to introduce myself and inform you that I am an Independent candidate for Scriba Town Council. I would also like to take this opportunity to let you know some of the things I would like to achieve, if I am fortunate enough to have you elect me as your next town councilperson.

I have been a resident of Scriba for several years now residing at 1337 Co. Rt. 1. I grew up in a small town in St. Lawrence County and really like the feel of living and working with other residents in a small community, such as ours, to make it a better place to live and raise a family. I have submitted my name as a candidate for Town Council for this reason, as well as the fact that I believe the town is in need of some fresh ideas, that can help bring about change for a better future for you and your family as Scriba town residents.

My background consists of an Associate Degree in Business Administration, and many years of working in the business field, from sales to business management. I also have spent several years working with community service organizations such as; Big Brother/Big Sister Program, Junior Achievement, Making Strides, Susan Koman Race for a Cure, American Heart Association, and Adopt a Family. Through these experiences I have gained knowledge in being conservative in spending and making the most of every dollar, as well as pursuing grant money to help in funding of programs beneficial to the community. I believe such experience would be of great benefit to me as a Scriba Town Council person to make sure you the taxpayer get the most out of your tax dollars when funding the town as a whole.

Some of the things I would like to achieve if elected to the town council are:

? Lowering of the tax burden through prudent spending and cuts where possible.

? Working with Department heads to insure that town departments run efficiently and effectively to maximize benefits to taxpayers.

? Work to assure residents that property tax assessments are fair and equitable.

? Work toward a more open and responsive town government that involves you, the taxpayer, in the decision making process.

? Work hard to address all resident’s concerns and work with you in finding solutions to those concerns.

I do want you to know that I am not a politician, but a taxpayer who cares deeply about the town in which we live. Growing up I was taught that through hard work, love of the community, and working with others is the way to get things done, and if elected to the town council I will do just that. I will work hard with each and every resident to make the Town of Scriba a better place to live and raise a family. I will work to make it more affordable for residents to live and stay here through lower taxes. I will work to have a stronger, more open town government that includes you, the taxpayer in the process. I will work for YOU each and every day if I am fortunate enough to be elected by you to the Scriba Town Council.

I want to thank you for your time and the consideration of my candidacy. I would like to ask for your support in the General Election on Tuesday November 3rd, vote the Independent line (9G). With your vote we can work together today for a better Town of Scriba tomorrow.

My best,

Jennifer Woods
Independent Town Council Candidate
