Jim Eby is the only choice

For the past two decades I have had the pleasure of knowing Mr. James Eby both personally and professionally as a news reporter.

I believe he will be an excellent Family Court judge because he is dedicated, compassionate and a true professional.

His law practice is run efficiently and effectively and there’s no doubt these are qualities he will bring with him to the courthouse along with the honesty and integrity for which he is so well known.

Mr. Eby’s opponent, Mrs. Lou Anne Rucynski-Coleman has made an attempt to portray Mr. Eby as being too old to finish the 10-year judicial term.

I believe Mrs. Rucynski-Coleman’s perception of the duties and responsibilities bestowed upon a Family Court judge is a bit skewed.

When it comes to our children, quality, not quantity, is what matters most.

If we conclude that the length of service is more important than the quality of the service, then we have done a disservice to the children of our community.

Sincerely,

Carol Thompson

  1. State law is what determines whether Mr. Eby could finish the term. He cannot. He is legally unable to serve more than five years of the ten year term.

  2. I agree with the letter writer: “When it comes to our children, quality, not quantity, is what matters most.

If we conclude that the length of service is more important than the quality of the service, then we have done a disservice to the children AND parents of our community. ”

A judge’s term should never exceed 4-5 years. If a judge cannot, or will not, improve the legal system/court that he/she serves in a 4-5 year term, the people should have the option to remove said judge from the position via the election process. Simple as that.

I believe, as do a great many others, that Mr. Eby will bring justice, equality/fairness, and integrity to the Oswego County Family Court. The family court system will be improved by his term as a judge. My only regret is that he will not be eligible for re-election.

James Eby IS the only choice.

    Sincerely,

    Katherine

  3. My daughter had Jim Eby as the law guardian of her son going through her divorce. Jim Eby never once met with her son. Never even tried to talk with him. I can’t believe he could possibly bring “quality” to Family Court. Eby and Seager. I can’t think of a worse team for our kids.

  4. I find it laughable that you don’t think its a problem that this candidate is running for a position he can’t fulfill. all this means is the county pays for another election when he can’t complete his. it also means the county now pays his retirement. he isn’t doing anything for the children, he’s doing it for a retirement package.
