OSWEGO, NY – Joanne Gleesing Rothhaar, affectionately known as “Susie,” passed away Saturday March 26, 2016 at the age of 79, in Pirmasens, Germany.
Joanne was born on November 4, 1936, and raised in Oswego.
She was the daughter of Eva Grace and John Anderson.
In 1957, she was married in Milwaukee to Harold Gleesing, and they had four children.
When they divorced in 1962, she moved back to Oswego to be with her mother.
After having dedicated her life to raising four children alone and caring for her mother, she was ready for some peace and quiet and adventure!
As fate would have it, and not wanting to burden her grown children, she traveled across the world to marry her high school sweetheart.
Joanne loved and adored her husband, her American movies, movie star gossip magazines, and was an avid crossword enthusiast.
When she was terribly homesick, her understanding husband would arrange for her to come back to the States every two – three years to visit her children and brothers.
We will all miss those visits now.
Joanne was recently predeceased by her brother, John “Andy” Anderson. She was also predeceased by her first child, Daniel Alan.
Joanne is survived by her very compassionate and tender loving husband, Werner; her three daughters, Christy Massa (Mickey) and their two children and one granddaughter, Julie Quinn (John) and their son, and Debbie Lagman and her daughter. She is also survived by her brother, Robert “Bob” Anderson.
Joanne will be placed with her mother in St. Peters Cemetery, Oswego, as this was her only wish.
There will be no services.
Arrangements are in care of the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, Oswego.
