OSWEGO, NY – John C. Greeney Sr., 80, of 222 E. Second St., passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Oct. 18, 2009.
Ã¢â‚¬Å“JackÃ¢â‚¬Â was born in Oswego, the son of the late John and Julia (Nettles) Greeney.
He was a life resident of Oswego.
He was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Korean War.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed, for 30 years, with Hammermill International Paper.
Jack was the center of his family and cherished his children and grandchildren.
His hobbies included fishing, making lures and baking.
He loved spending time at his camp at Moon Beach.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Joan (Nearbin) Greeney of Oswego; his daughters, Barbara Mahlmann of Schenectady, and Terry (Daniel) Potter, Mary Beth (Brian) Wyman and Jo Ann (John) Wall, all of Oswego; his only son, John (Lori) Greeney Jr. of Oswego; his beloved sister, Jean Hilton of Oswego; seven grandchildren, Jennifer and Melissa Mahlmann, Robert and Justin Greeney, Kylie and Bradley Wyman; and Jonathan Wall; a great-grandson, Ryan Robert Greeney; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, James, Neil, and Richard.
Upon his wishes, there will be no services.
