John E. Knopp, 70, a resident of Co Rt. 25, Town of Oswego, passed away July 2, 2011 in Lancaster, PA.
Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Alexander and Mary (Chase) Knopp.
He was a graduate of Hannibal Schools.
He served in the Army National Guard.
John was the Superintendant for the Oswego Town Rural Cemetery. He previously worked at Columbia Mills and was a Lab Technician for Alcan.
He was a race fan and loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 1552.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Carol (Hibbert) Knopp; two sons, Jeffrey (Michelle) Knopp of Oswego; Douglas (Nikki) Knopp of Harrisburg, PA; two brothers, Donald Knopp of Oswego; Alexander (Sharon) Knopp of Oswego; a brother-in-law, Edward (Pat) Hibbert, of Smyrna, Delaware; a sister, Joyce (Allen) Sheridan of Oswego; a sister-in-law, Elaine Johnson of Oswego; his uncle Luman (Mabel) Chase of Cato; two grandchildren, Jillian and Chase Knopp; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 11a.m. Friday, at the Nelson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oswego Town Rural Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held 4-7p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home, 11 West Albany St. Oswego.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Assoc. or to the Diabetes Assoc.
