John Paeno, 95, of Oswego died Wednesday peacefully with his family by his side at the Oswego Hospital.
Mr. Paeno was born in Oswego the son of the late Joseph and Maria (Palamara) Paeno, and he has remained a life resident. Mr. Paeno was a retired employee of the City of Oswego as the commissioner of weights and measures.
He was a life long farmer of his family farm, and a communicant of St. Joseph Church. Mr. Paeno was a member of the Golden Age Group, Elks, and the Dante Alighieri.
Mr. Paeno was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather survived by his wife of seventy-two years Mayme Paeno of Oswego and their children Joseph (Jackie) Paeno of Oswego, John (Lynne) Paeno of FL and Joanne (Don) Teifke of Mexico, nine grandchildren, Donald Jr., Timothy, Beth, Lori, Lisa, Tonya, Tracy, John Nicholas, and Anthony, and thirteen great grandchildren.
Mr. Paeno was predeceased by his grandson Robert Teifke and siblings Eva Natoli, Anthony, George, and Joseph Paeno.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday 8:30 a.m. from the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, Oswego and 9:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Church. Entombment will be in All Saints Mausoleum at St Peter’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home 147 West Fourth Street Oswego.
