MINETTO, NY – Parishioners of the Minetto United Methodist Church will gather for Rally Day on September 7 at 10 a.m.
Children are asked to bring their backpacks to be blessed by the pastor.
The Chancel Choir, under the direction of Mary Lou Carpenter-Bjorkman and accompanied by Kathy Duschen, will present Jonah and The Big Fish, a short musical play with Pastor Chuck Forbes as Jonah.
According to Carpenter-Bjorkman, “The musical, written by Grace Hawthorne and Medema, is told in an old fashioned detective style, complete with the opening line: ‘It was a dark and stormy night.’ The detectives are looking for clues as to where Jonah has disappeared. The narrative is told in a charming, funny dialogue. The choir, all kids at heart, is having a wonderful time with this production. Come join us in order to see Pastor Chuck’s budding acting ability! Kids, bring your parents and your backpacks!”
The worship service will be followed by a picnic with the food provided by the pastor and ice cream sundaes by the Christian Education team.
Regular Sunday school classes will begin on September 14.
There will be classes for pre-K through second grade; third through sixth grade; and seventh grade and older.
The building is fully accessible and is located at the corner of State Route 48 and County Route 8, one block south of the Stewarts Shop, midway between Oswego and Fulton, in the village of Minetto.
