Joseph F. Salvador, 82


Joseph F. Salvador, 82, a resident of East Eighth St. Oswego, passed away December 13, 2011 at Seneca Hill Manor.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late John and Agnes (Netters) Salvadore.

A life resident of Oswego. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp.

He was employed at Marathon and then Alcan retiring in 1986 after 23 years of service.

An avid softball player in his younger years and a 1990 inductee in the Oswego Softball Hall of Fame. He bowled for many years for the Canale’s team in the Monday night Dante Alighieri League. A big NY Yankee fan and a fan of the Oswego Speedway for 60 years.

He enjoyed watching his children and later grandchildren participate in their various sporting events.

Joseph was a member of the Charles C. Crisafulli Post 15.

He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Elaine who died in 2009.

Surviving are a daughter, Joanne Geroux; four sons, John Salvador, Joseph (Kathy) Salvadore, James Salvador and Thomas Salvador (Kristy Masuicca and her son Nick); a brother, John (Margaret) Salvadore; three sisters, Catherine (Joe) Boni; Mary Lasky of Gardner, MA; Ann Makin; seven grandchildren, Joseph Salvadore, Francis Salvadore, Josh Donaghue, Matthew Salvador, Chelsea Geroux, Zachary Salvador and Caitlin Geroux; one great-grandson, Austin Salvadore; a son-in-law George Geroux; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 11a.m. Saturday, at St. Joseph’s Church. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Calling hours for family and friends 4-7p.m. Friday, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany St. Oswego.

Contributions: Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital, Syracuse or Upstate Cancer Center, Syracuse.

    Jim, Tom and Family,
    So very sorry to read of Joe’s passing. We always enjoyed talking with him (and Marion working with him). Take comfort in your happy memories – you will always have those.
