Joseph G. Ponzi, 68

OSWEGO, NY – Joseph G. Ponzi, 68, of Oswego died Tuesday Jan. 17, 2012, at his home after a brief illness.

Mr. Ponzi was born in Oswego the son of the late Angelo and Amelia (Bellardino) Ponzi.

Mr. Ponzi worked as a tow motor operator at Papertronics, Oswego.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose.

Mr. Ponzi enjoyed singing karaoke and fishing.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Claira DeStevens Rupert, Louise Delnero and Barbara Ponzi; and brothers, Francis “ Lala” Ponzi, Leonard “Cannonball” Ponzi and Floyd “Weno” Ponzi.

Mr. Ponzi is survived by his children, Joseph Ponzi of Fulton, Angela (Tim) LaQuire of Oswego, Bobbie Jo Ponzi of Oswego and Julie Wilcox;  his brother, Anthony “Butch” Ponzi; sisters, Rita Johnson, Delores (Don) Fitzgerald and Mary Margaret Flett all of Oswego; grandchildren, Felecia LaQuire, Jacob Ponzi; and great-granddaughter, Natalie Reed.

Calling hours will be Saturday 4 – 7 p.m. at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home 147 W. Fourth St., Oswego.

Burial will be private.
