OSWEGO, NY – Joseph Solazzo Jr., 83, a resident of Oswego, passed away Thursday June 5, 2014, at his home.
Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Joseph and Concetta (Gambino) Solazzo.
He was an US Army veteran, who served in Korea.
He was employed with Labor Local # 633.
Joe was an avid gardener, loved to work in his garage.
He loved to hunt with his family at their camp and loved to play his guitar and harmonica.
He was an avid member of the Moose Club, American Legion, the VFW and Knights of Columbus.
He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his six children, Joseph III (Kathy) Solazzo, Carol (Dave) Kavanaugh, Anthony (Cindy) Solazzo, Terry (Tracey) Solazzo, Connie (Mike) Foster and Christine (Steve) Hutchinson; his beloved grandchildren, Joseph Solazzo IV, Jessica (Curt) Miller, Jennifer Solazzo, Joshua Solazzo, Steven Hutchinson, Dustin Kavanaugh, KC Kavanaugh, Johnathan Solazzo, Tay Solazzo and Samantha Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Isabella Solazzo and Maddox Miller.
Also surviving are his siblings, Anna Fitzsimmons, Frances Solazzo, Jane Ferfaglia, Concetta Pelkey and Michael Solazzo.
He was predeceased by his wife, Carol (Germain) Solazzo; and siblings: John Solazzo, Dominic Solazzo, Anthony Solazzo, Rose Solazzo, Mary Walsh, Nicasio Solazzo and Augustina Benezunes.
Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Saturday, at St. Peter’s Church.
Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
