To get a job done, you need the right tools. The same goes for getting a job.
When you’re looking for work, it’s critical to use all your resources to your advantage.
One of the most popular and effective job search tools continues to be networking.
For many people, meeting potential employers and tapping friends and contacts often leads to new and exciting opportunities.
On June 6, I’ll be offering a great opportunity for job seekers to make those connections at my third annual Oswego County Job Fair.
The free event, which will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fulton War Memorial, will feature dozens of employers, many of which are hiring now.
The event will also offer information on interviewing skills, tips on how to start your business and much more.
Those wishing to attend are encouraged to preregister at my website www.ritchie.nysenate.gov, or by calling (315) 605-8112.
On my website, you’ll also be able to find a list of the employers who will be on hand to meet those looking for work.
Last year, more than 1,000 job-seekers attended my job fairs in Oswego and St. Lawrence counties, which included nearly 100 employers.
As a result of these events, hundreds of job-seekers were able to find work.
My Oswego County Job Fair is one of the many ways I have supported putting people back to work and getting our economy back on track.
The recently enacted state budget includes several initiatives from the Senate’s “Blueprint for Jobs” plan, including tax cuts and credits to help small businesses, boost manufacturing and high-tech and assist veterans returning to the workforce.
I encourage all Central New York job-seekers to attend my June 6 job fair.
For those living in the North Country and looking for work, mark your calendar for my St. Lawrence County Job Fair which will be held on September 18 in Ogdensburg.
If you can’t make these events, or want to get a jump-start on finding your next job, take a minute to visit my Online Jobs Bank, which you can find through www.ritchie.nysenate.gov
This resource links job seekers to thousands of opportunities throughout New York State and also offers tips for a successful employment search.
The key to revitalizing New York’s economy is getting people back to work.
As your state senator, I’m committed to helping the talented and hardworking people of our region, from recent graduates to people with years of experience in the workforce, find jobs that enable them to make meaningful contributions to our communities and our state as a whole.
