OSWEGO – Raymond Jock, executive chef and owner of La Parrilla, will provide the next Guest Chef Dinner for the Oswego County Salvation Army on June 12, serving from 4:30 to 6 p.m., for dining in or taking out, at the Worship and Service Center, 73 W. Second St.
His menu for the evening will be Latin chicken stir fry, containing chicken, peppers, carrots, broccoli, black beans, celery, rice, and Latin spices.
Tossed salad will be donated by Dave Johnson of C’s Farm Market and served with a roasted tomato red wine vinaigrette from La Parrilla.
The Army’s Advisory Board will provide an assortment of desserts and beverages.
La Parrilla – “the grill” – a Mediterranean style bistro, is located next to Oswego Theater, at 156 W. Second St.
Chef Jock specializes in using fresh local ingredients seasonally to create traditional regional Spanish and Italian cuisine. His food has been acclaimed by The Post-Standard, Syracuse New Times, and many local diners known to this writer.
Chef Jock grew up in Scriba and graduated from Oswego High School. He completed culinary school in Florida and then moved to Manhattan, where he worked for six years before becoming a personal chef to Jerry Seinfeld, Colin Powell, and others.
His long-time dream of having his own restaurant in Oswego was realized in 2009, when he opened La Parrilla.
The Guest Chef Dinners are organized by the advisory board and offered to the community to raise funds for fresh-cooked meals in both Fulton and Oswego and other services that are provided to individuals and families in need throughout Oswego County.
There is ample parking and the building is fully accessible. Dinners may be enjoyed in our dining room or carried out.
Future Guest Chef Dinners this year will be provided through the generosity of the Zonta Club of Oswego on September 11, the Press Box on a date TBA in October, and Canale’s Restaurant on November 13.
