Szatanek from Camerondale Road in Baldwinsville, was convicted of the murder of 17-year-old Anna Rose Shove at Brennan Beach in August 2014.

Shove, of Ontario, Wayne County, was vacationing at Lake Ontario with family members.

Szatanek was first arrested on a parole violation; he wasn’t charged with the teen’s murder until November 2014.

He had targeted Shove after approaching “a handful other girls on the beach,”
investigators reported last year.

“Mr. Szatanek was on parole at the time this offense was committed,” DA Greg
Oakes said last fall when Szatanek was indicted.

Szatanek was on parole for second-degree burglary and wasn’t allowed to leave Onondaga County without permission from his parole officer (which he didn’t have in August 2014).

Szatanek is scheduled to be sentenced on February 10, 2016.

He could face up to 25 years to life in prison.
