OSWEGO, NY – Kathleen M. (Kay) Hart, long-time resident of Oswego passed away Sunday Jan 8, 2012 in Mesa, Arizona, her winter residence.
Mrs. Hart was born February 15, 1926, to Leslie and Florence (Wills) Hammond in Fulton NY.
She is survived by her brother, John Hammond; four loving children and their spouses, Leslie (Carolyn) Hart, Lawrence Hart, Mary Kay (Robert) Benjamin and Steven (Jane) Hart; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard (Dick) Hart; brother, Jim Hammond; sister, Irene Busko; and grandson, Ryan Hart.
Mrs. Hart and her husband enjoyed many years of retirement at the Good Life Trailer Park in Mesa.
They played golf, traveled cross-country and cruised the sea.
Mrs. Hart worked more than 20 years in the student teaching department at Oswego State University.
She loved working with people.
The friendships she developed at SUNY Oswego lasted her lifetime.
Mrs. Hart found great pleasure in her family, weekly luncheons with friends, trips to the theater, Bunko club and junkets to the track.
She was an avid reader and never went anywhere without her books.
She often donated time working in the libraries in Oswego and Mesa.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Nelson Funeral home.
Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Thursday, at the Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
