Several students at Dennis M. Kenney Middle School recently met up with personnel from the Hannibal Fire Company for a fun-filled tutorial on fire prevention.
As part of an annual fire safety awareness lesson, students from several life skills classes at DMK congregated into a classroom where real-life firefighters greeted them.
The firemen discussed the dangers associated with house fires and provided ways to prevent such accidents from occurring.
Students were then afforded the opportunity to wear some authentic firefighting apparel, such as a hat and jacket.
Each time a particular student would step into the over-sized equipment, the class would burst into laughter.
Students were also able to tour a fire truck and view some of the accessories the truck utilizes.
Special Education teacher Mindy Kaufman said she was thankful for the visit by the Hannibal Fire Company and noted that the students enjoyed learning about fire prevention.
