OSWEGO, NY – Kevin C. O’Connor Sr., 73, a resident of Scriba, NY, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at St.Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, NY.
Kevin was born on October 30, 1943, in Oswego and lived in Scriba all of his life.
He attended Mexico Central Schools.
He married Judith Carol Gigon on September 18, 1971, in Scriba.
He was employed by the town of Scriba from 1977 to 2006.
He was the highway superintendent from 1998 until his retirement in 2006.
Mr. O’Connor was a war veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Mobile Construction Battalion Seven.
Kevin was a member and past commander of the Scriba VFW Post #9218.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving are his children, Faith (Charles) Foultz of Fulton, Kimberly (Shawn) Brown of Scriba and Kevin C. (Kendra) O’Connor Jr. of Oswego; his brothers, Rodney, Dennis and Joe; his sisters, Wanda, Sally, Peggy and Vicky; his sister-in-law and dear friend, Lucy Gigon Haresign; 10 grandchildren, Curtis, Shannon, Matthew, Andrew, Samantha, Shawn Jr., Alysha, Justin, Grace and Deklen; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Judith Carol Gigon O’Connor, in 2013; his parents, John R. and Dorotha M. (Whiting) O’Connor; his brother, Cyril J. VanAuken; and his sister, Marjorie J. Deary.
Funeral services are private and at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in North Scriba Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 – 8 p.m.
