LA PLUME, Pa. – The Oswego State field hockey team (3-9) fell behind early and was never able to recover, as it lost to non-conference Keystone (7-7), 4-1, Saturday afternoon. Hope Krolewski and Brittany Cardona registered a goal and an assist each to help the home team earn the victory.
Krolewski got the scoring started for the Giants in the fourth minute when she posted an unassisted goal. Keystone struck again in the 14th minute after Brittany Cardona found the back of the cage, as Shannon Robinson earned an assist. The Giants made it a three-goal contest at the break following a Katie Darling as the stanza expired. Krowleski was credited with a helper on the play.
Keystone tallied its final goal in the 55th minute when Cardona found Christiana Nevers open for the score. Oswego State ended the shutout bid after Michelle Ruskey (Sr., Deerfield, N.Y.) assisted Taylor Stein’s (Sr., Endwell, N.Y.) fourth goal of the season.
Nicole Moccaldi (Fr., East Islip, N.Y.) earned the loss after posting five saves and allowing three goals in the first half. Grace Lombardi (Fr., Ossining, N.Y.) came into the game in the second half to make seven saves on eight shots on goal. Keystone’s Nichole Blank made four stops for the win.
The Lakers return to Oswego to close out the conference schedule next weekend when they host Geneseo on Friday at 4 p.m. and Brockport on Saturday at 1 p.m.
