Area children can have their own fun at the Novelis 10Kan event on September 18th at Breitbeck Park in Oswego.
A kids’ bike rodeo for children ages five through eight will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the park. The bike rodeo promotes safe bike riding and features an age appropriate obstacle course that will be set up near the park’s basketball court area. Kids who wish to take part are encouraged to bring their own bikes. Coordinating the rodeo is Billie Crandall-Brady, coordinator of the Oswego County Traffic Safety Board.
In addition to the bike rodeo, there will be fun runs for kids ages five through 12. These runs will be age appropriate with the five year olds running 70 yards, and the oldest participants, ages 10 to 12 running a mile. Registration for the fun runs is between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. on race day. There is a fee of 50 recyclable aluminum cans or $5 to participate in the fun runs.
The actual 10Kan race events include a 10K run, 5K run and walk, and a 20-mile bike race. Community members interested in participating in the Fourth Annual Novelis 10Kan can now register online at www.10kanrun.com There is also same day registration between 7 a.m. and 7:30 on race day.
