Kindness Rocks Project Serves As Fundraiser For Red Cross

MEXICO – Students in Marian Becker’s classroom at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation have utilized kindness rocks to spread the love twofold.

Kindness rocks were painted to help CiTi students in Marian Becker’s classroom spread joy to others and to raise money for the American Red Cross.

Once they found out about the impact of hurricanes in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico, the students wanted to take action.

Becker said as more tragedies occurred the students regrouped and decided to spread joy and thoughtfulness to CiTi students, teachers and community members by offering kindness rocks.

Students sold the rocks to CiTi staff, family and friends and then hand-painted inspiring messages and colorful designs.

Becker said the students wanted their efforts to be more effective so they decided that funds received would be donated to the local American Red Cross chapter to help a local family in any emergency situation.

About $100 was collected through the effort.

Becker and a few other adults then placed the rocks throughout local communities.

CiTi students that participated in the project include: Jackie Shaffer, Jonathan Santiago, Amber Wilder and Kaden Thompson.
